Every semester (fall, spring, and summer), I’d like to take on one or two “virtual” interns to assist with various elements of running TheBusinessOfSports.com. Here is a brief description of the position’s responsibilities and desired background. Virtual Intern Job Description:
- Assist with research and preparation for blog content as needed
- Improve and promote TheBusinessOfSports.com Facebook Fan Page
- Seek out content for and promote TheBusinessOfSports.com Flickr photo gallery and YouTube channel
- Explore other ways to extend the blog reach via social media channels
- Help build an email marketing database and weekly newsletter
- Potentially organize a local sports business networking event in your area
- Improve the overall branding and marketing of the blog
- Write a weekly column for the blog, such as the “Five for Friday” weekly news recap
- Other projects as needed
Desired Background:
- Current undergraduate student, majoring in sports management or any business-related area (marketing, finance, etc.)
- Comfortable with all current social media channels, including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Flickr
- Familiarity with WordPress or a different blogging/web publishing tool
- Desire to learn as much as possible about the sports industry
- A passion for sports and business
- Strong writing skills (voice, content, grammar and style)
- Self-motivated
- Knowledge of HTML, web design and Adobe Photoshop is a plus
Work Schedule:
- VERY flexible – anywhere from 5-15 hours per week, depending on current needs and your school workload
